Developer Larian Studios has rolled out another hotfix for its popular turn-based role-playing game, Baldur's Gate 3. This recent update addresses a plethora of bugs and performance-related issues. However, it focuses heavily on mitigating an ongoing difficulty with how players interact with a specific party member, Gale, the wizard of Waterdeep.
Gale's storyline involves a power known as the Netherese orb corrupting his body. To manage this predicament, Gale needs to consume magical items that the player usually collects on their adventures. In return, Gale would show his immense gratitude to the player. However, the previous game mechanics meant Gale might potentially leave the party entirely should the player refrain from providing him with magical items during dialogues.
Hotfix 17 has now altered this dynamic. Gale won't exit the party permanently if players choose not to give him magical items during interactions unless they explicitly decide not to do so in the future. According to the patch notes from Larian Studios, this adjustment ensures that misunderstanding the player's intentions won't cause Gale to desert the team prematurely.
Additionally, this update fixes issues in Honor Mode by ensuring the aura of Cazador's Potent Mist Form no longer sticks around post-transformation. Characters also won't become uncontrollable after facing defeat in a battle with Grym due to story events. Furthermore, the hotfix aims to ease issues with large save files by minimizing their size through the removal of non-existent summons and heightening the compression.
As Larian continues to refine and improve its game, players can look forward to enjoying an enhanced Baldur's Gate 3 experience and explore the best PC and RPG games available in 2024.
